Too bad you wasted all that cash on those useless "Mods" good luck with the slush box auto and have fun with the timing chain guides rattle. Are you going to ask your father for a small loan since you spent all your money on some decals and blue lights?

Yes, well over 100k. I am at 235k on the original TCG's on the '00. I've been waiting for them to fail since 100k...:

After returning, started Blue and the infamous, perceived to be, "TCG rattle" reared it's ugly head for the first time in a looong time (after using Castrol GTX Magnatec 5W-30, the rattle has been mostly subdued). Every subsequent start has been silent so I believe that I have correctly attributed the "TCG rattle" to the Vanos unit because of the O-ring issue. Magnatec appears to keep enough oil in the Vanos unit to reduce the rattle's occurrence...

Tensioner is mostly useless unless it's properly seized, in which case it still does little to prevent the inevitable.

These cars run dry every cold start anyways, it's the VANOS drainback valve.

You've obviously never seen a high millage tensioner then and how compressed they are compared to a new one from heat cycle fatigue.

And it still won't stop failure, it's there for a couple seconds until oil pressure takes over.

I've pulled springs out of JY cars, some are better than others and many are acceptable.

I agree with GearFinger on everything he said, plus the music you used on the video is absolutely ... errr.... let's just say it matches your taste for "mods". I don't think it's riced, but it certainly looks like a romanian/latvian "bmw mafia" cars. Eurocheesed.
I think that your dad saying he woulnd't drive that anynmore could have hinted you as to what level of appreciation a true BMW enthusiast feels about spending a whackload of hard earned cash (at least by dad) in "fancy bling-o" instead on maintenance items.
    Diehard E39 driver.
I'd rather die or take a walk before driving an E60 or any BMW made after Y2K.

I've come around to this view. While I replaced mine when I got the car due to consensus view, I don't think its the issue people think it is, unless somehow a tensioner won't hold oil pressure anymore but like a stuck hydraulic lifter, that's extremely rare/freak in this day and age.

Relax kido, we're just busting chops. We all have some weird mod that would make folks here cringe their teeth... some of us, elders, hide it in the glovebox or trunk instead of just strutting it ;-)
