As well the awful chrome wheels. Sorry mate all those mods are awful. M5 badge on the engine cover of the M62? Weak poser stuff bro. Glad the M5 trunk badge came off. Blackout tint? Gaaah. Cheezy lowrent ghetto look, way to bring a classy E39 down to look like 'just another crappy 'hood car' The family Dinan 7 is nice. As well the blue M5. The murdered out treatment on the Touring also blows tho. Weird that all those cars are in one family. Somebody got the cheezy-gene I guess and is an embarassment to the rest of the family who have actual taste? #meancarcommentssorrynotsorry

OP: A true legit 'Rally look' would be cool but that's not even remotely what you have. You just put some dumbass "fake M" ebay window sticker on the windows like every other random ricer and stancetard does.

To be positive - you should run with the ACTUAL rally idea. That would be awesome.

Real rally-look stuff, like a roof rack with big ass lights, maybe a jerry can up there....
    Lights on the front bumper.
Front bumper mods perhaps - guards or plates or something...
    Lighting protection.
    Mud flaps.
Ditch the cheezeball chrome wheels for something big and probably steel. Rancho the suspension a little.

I mean a lotta guys will hate that as 'sacrilege' for an E39 but personally I'd find it fairly cool. It would be really unique - nobody does builds like that on E39. You'd get mega attention at car shows now, instead of being "just another plain jane 540 with nothing but a cheezy poser badge job, bad tint, bad wheels, and ugly lights".

Here's what actual rally cars look like - steel wheels, fender flares, big lights, suspension clearance... Excuse the M-B and Porsche pix, its just that good rally builds are more common on those than BMW's... but the builds give you ideas for what a real 'rally build' should look like.

Hmm ... while bumpers are a nice upgrade, the rest of the mods aren't. Sorry to say this but just not my cup of tea.

This, agree with GG. Lose all the eBay decals and M logos. Surprised no one in your family stopped you. Oh yea, blue neon nonsense also.

This thread is giving me the jones to do a super cool rally build.

Somebody did these photochop for Brandon years back and I always thought it'd be awesome to actually do a build like that.

I think I'd do the 'dry build' first with the mods, then decide what to do with 'livery' aka stickers etc.

Hah! Cool, Place the 4 fog lights in the bumpers grill area, a second roof air intake scoop for the illegal Mexicans you could be smuggling into the US.

Whats the problem with the chrome wheels? Goes with the window trim. Also the touring is my bros and the m5 and 750 is my dads (Hes also bought another m5 and 2 740s). That's why the touring is riced and the others still classy.
I know my car is not favored by everyone but personally i love it. The only thing i kind of regret is the m stickers everywhere. Im not expecting everyone to love it but its what i would call borderline rice" those pics you have up there have way to much shit going on.

Hey, it's your car - mod it how you want and drive it like you stole it. I can't watch the video because reasons.

Chrome wheels are supremely supremely tacky. Leave those for the ballar NBA player Escalades.

And you've already blacked out hood trim and plan on doing the door trim anyway... so how is that logic?

Your poor Dad. I hope his drinking hasn't become a problem. Let him know if he needs a support group that we're all here for him.

Yep. A rally E53 would be cool too, although an E39 RWD rally would be more unique. Or transplant the Xdrive from the E53 into an E39 touring and....

OK OK I'm getting carried away.

Let me know how statey likes your blue lights. My FDNY buddy has them and I'm tired of explaining to the cops it's not my car when I take it to the shop to do work on it.
