Miss:
how easy Euro headlight level and city lights were to hook up.
Armen, Dan, Nick and Ben. (though 2/4 are on my Facebook feed and 2/4 are on my insta)
how easy the electronics were on a 5 speed swap
how easy it was to find an LSD. (92 with cold weather package)
the standalone obc.
The additional luggage area room.
finding issues or figuring out pinouts with a multimeter and some spare wire!
Dont miss:
what a pain getting rear fogs in a touring was ( build your own connectors, activating the light on the cluster by adding a connector there, sourcing e32 reverse light holders)
the gas mileage. (24 freeway? Wow.)
having to mod the lkm to get brights with fogs
having to repaint the roof and seal it if you removed the rails.
Not having any usable underfloor storage.
Not having INPA or any really useful diagnostics.
If I were to give my Touring a first name, I'd probably name it "Alan".
Mostly because I like puns.

I'd miss a lot about an E34, starting with the front interior. I would not miss:
The heavy, expensive, and worse steering box system.
Rear facevents that bypass the heatercore.
The hinge and overall electrical design of the Touring rear hatch.
A few other points of idiocy that escape me at the moment...
>Give me old analog stuff I can analyze down to individual wires and can rebuild (if with some hassle) over proprietary black boxes any day. And especially if that day is years after said boxes are out of production. Not having INPA or any really useful diagnostics.

I'm slowly preparing myself for the day that the GM takes a dump, the junkyard supply has dried up, and I have to fabricate my own wiper, lock, interior lights, and window circuits.
GMs are still available from BMW. I bought one anticipating that they will go NLA some day soon. They are not inexpensive, but it's either take the hit now and pay the price or wait until you're in a bind and at the mercy of junkyards and parts dealers who bought up remaining stocks.
