The shockwave was felt through forums across the internet... signatures, build threads... wiped out...
Is there a long-er term solution to this then just trying another image upload site? When imageshack did this we all jumped ship to imgur, imgur dumped forum hotlinking and now photobucket is doing the same crap imageshack did I can't help but wonder if whoever we go to next won't do the same eventually.
Makes me wish I just paid the $40 or whatever it was for a yearly imageshack subscription. Photobucket wants $399 for a year

Probably the other (now) free upload services will go the same way sooner or later, they want to make profit,' free' is just the bait.
The problem is now in the forum, many, many of the DIY write ups are without pics now.

The only one of those services that allows third party hosting is the $399/year tier
Idc about photobucket, the problem as you mention is build threads that are now image-less. Im hoping we can find another place to upload images that wont do this in the future, though if we have anything to learn from the past its that all these free image hosts turn to a pay plan eventually
I'm seeing other forums sweep through and remove the [img] tags around the image links.
This is having the effect of turning all the embedded images into hyperlinks which when clinked will display the image.

Does Imgur ban this? I know this forum does. However I host images on imgur on the VW site I frequent and never had any issues...
If you have chrome you can install this https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...alioapbifiaedg and it will fix the links so you can see the photos.

browser add-on extensions that allow you to view the dead links on the viewers end if the photos are still on Photobucket's site.
