I need a new clutch in the E36 M3 w/ stock motor w/ basically stock power. The car is dedicated to track events/TTs, but is street legal and driven to/from the track. I don't care about noise, but it has to be usable in traffic (i once spent 2 hours in stop n go on the way to NJMP).
I'll likely go with a Gripforce/FX option as I'm adequately satisfied by the feedback i've been reading and the price is right. I plan to go with a "Stage 1" organic/OEM type clutch or maybe a "Stage 2" kevlar.
I'm debating between the 14.5lb chromoly flywheel and the 10.6lb aluminum flywheel. What do you guys think?
I run a 10.5 lb aluminum w/Kevlar M5 disk. I would go organic in the future. All street use. I've done a couple demonstration laps in a couple sessions as a CCA instructor.
Love the heel-toe throttle response.

I think i'm about to pull the trigger on the 10.6lb aluminum with OEM organic rigid disc and HD pressure plate. My only hesitation is that the disc is rigid and not sprung, but i assume it works. I don't care about noise.

On eBay this kit is only $429. Wild.
Really want to use spring disk with single mass flywheel.
Engine harmonics is a problem in the lower RPM range ~ 1500 to 2500.
The collector on one of my stock head pipes fractured off in the early days of my LWT FW.

Engine harmonics also big issue at high rpm. I am most likely ditching my LWFW setup (JBR)

I know a guy with the light aluminum JB w/ OE rigid clutch disc and says it works great. I assume the FX Racing version is similar. There would be less damping than with a factory DMF or even heavier flywheel, but i figure bimmerworld must sell a shit ton of these so they must be relatively ok. Just don't rev above 7200rpm where things get wonky with our bottom end.
tl;dr: I haven't heard enough noise on the various forums to be too afraid.
