Newbie to bmw clan

Hi all, my car should be here in a few days. It has a few things that will need to be tinkered with. My first question for now is how can you get a glove box open that won't open? I have not seen it yet but I'd like to get some input now.

Destroy the latch and replace it, but u need to figure out why the button doesn't operate before you close the new latch
