OE and OEM parts number?

Do OE part numbers match with OEM part numbers?

I ask this because I had an adaptive headlight (right) and a sticker on it says it's part number is 7217298. But I can't find this on www.realoem.com. I found the same part (used vin number http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=63127217288) but it's part number is 7217288 so it doesn't match. Why? The car is a 2014 BMW X3 before facelift.

It is strange that there is only an outdated 7 digit number on a 2014 made car, I assume your part is an aftermarket part and they misprinted the number.

Not all partial part number tags will lead to the part, you will just have to look up the part and use what number is on the film
