With a heavy heart I am highly contemplating parting with my beloved wagon. I had it swapped for a 6 speed last year and it has been a blast. However, now my wife is having regrets on the swap and wants all of the cars in the household to be an automatic (since she can't drive stick and I will not teach her in my car- nor will I let her drive my car) in case of an emergency situation, especially with 2 little kids.
It is a 2000 540i. Interior has been swapped with the caramel interior from an M5. Custom back seats (m5 seats don't fit the wagon) and alcantara headliner. Custom Focal audio system with BitOne processor. Outside has a matt clear coat over the original Hellrot. 6 speed transmission was taken from a 540i and also added an e60 short shifter during the swap (also brand new oem clutch and flywheel). Custom painted 20" style 32 from e38.
After the transmission swap, I had the chain guides done, so all of the major work has been taken care of. She is mechanically sound and will go for another 100k miles. Currently at 13X,XXX miles. I have all paperwork from services done.
I am looking to trade for either a m3 convertible (auto) or a 740i M sport.

Your reason for selling is the reason I didn't convert my wagon to 6 speed and am currently rebuilding the transmission. Sad you have to trade for something else, looks like an awesome car.
very nice wagon. goodluck with the trade.
if you consider to sell, what is your sell price?
What are you looking for in a 740? Someone was offering me a decent looking E38 the other day...man a 6-speed wagon is my target car...
I would consider selling but I would never get back what I put in her. I think I would at least be happy with a trade. Maybe if there aren't any trades available I'll sell, but I'm really not in a rush ( trying to delay this as long as possible, lol).

Any interest in an 840ci?

I saw your ad. Love the car but same as you, I need a bit of space for the kids.

No problem figured since you threw the m3 vert in the mix i would give it a shot.
If you decide to sell, I would be interested.
Just grab a slushbox 323 and have one more car. I have two kids (8 and 6) and now are fostering a third (3) and we get by with just an Expedition. Sometimes it's a little more complicated but 90% of the time it isn't even a thought. We've been a one-vehicle-family since 2010 (except for me going in and out of motorcycles).
Or teach your wife to drive stick.
That's pretty fracking awesome. Always wanted a 540iT/6. Subscribing in the event you put a price tag on this...
Beautiful car. i couldn't have done it any better. i hope some one gets that that know what they have .
Rent a manual car from Turo and teach her! Honestly, it's a nice skill to have. Just remember that the clutch is a two step procedure: bring it to the bite point, stay there, while feeding in throttle, then release the clutch all the way. Otherwise you'll be doing a lot of herky-jerky bouncing around.

You make it sound so simple, lol. Let me just say, the wife ain't the most adept driver. And she doesn't care to drive stick, so I won't trust her behind the wheel even if she did know how to technically drive manual. And I've tried too, it just wasn't worth the stress.

BaT and get your money back.
This is worth far more than a simple Shorty Sporty.
Any interest in trade + cash for a still-auto 02 540iT? Had chain guides professionally done about 2 years ago, mechnically sound. A little under 170k mi
Thanks for the offer but if I'm going to get another car, I wouldn't want it to be the same car in an auto. I'd be too nostalgic and regretful of not having the stick on my right hand anymore, lol. Not to say I wouldn't feel that way in another car but at least it won't look exactly the same in the cockpit.
