e46 330d manual Battery/charging light on but 14.1volts.STRANGE.HELP!

Today whilst driving in 2nd gear when i got to about 3500rpm my charging light came on then as quickly went off again.
now it seems,when i get revs to about 3500rpm when in 2nd 3rd gear my charging light comes on then goes off after revs drop back down again.
maybe nothing to do with it but could have swore i heard a higher pitched noise from somewhere behind the dash/clocks,could just be imaginig it though.
even ifi run car stationary in neutral if the revs are quick enough once it gets to over 3500rpm battery light comes on like before.NOW....my battery voltage seems fine ie:14.1v running,maybe upto 14.3 at about 3000rpm. even when battery light comes on dash the voltage still appears to be over 14v(just).
anyone? regulator? belt slip?(will be replacing belt tomorrow just in case!),bad gorund? checked terminals at battery and theyre fine.will have a look at alternator tomorrow.
BTW,does anyone know offhand if alternators in 1999 330d is bosch or valeo if its the original 1?

That voltage-14VDC-is fine. Something else is causing the battery light to come on.

Are you able to pull the codes? It'll give you a good place to start troubleshooting.
