I've searched and haven't seen much info related to PA Soft and its compatability with a 2001 BMW Z3Does anyone know, or has anyone used a PA Soft module to connect to their Z3?
It will work on some modules, but the common PASoft 1.4 is intended more for the newer chassis.

PA Soft was the only software in the diagnostic suite that would readily communicate with my engine swapped 2000 2.8 coupe to reset my throttle adaptations.

Not really, it can run on modern computers, if you know how to tinker with drivers.
PASoft is just meh though on e36. Much better for your e39 and e46s for LCM and cluster stuff.

I can't say I've ever tried PAsoft on a Z3. But I've done things with it on later cars that couldn't be done with other tools. Things like getting single modules out of transport mode after a weak battery causes havoc.

Have you looked into either INPA or Carsoft? Personally, I would recommend either one for our cars over PASoft. But that's just my two cents.
As 328Poewer04 mentioned above, PASoft on our cars is somewhat limiting. Unable to reset SRS was the deal breaker for me. Then again, it can be had for very cheap price nowadays so...

I had a 2000 e39 that I bought PA Soft for a few years ago so I've already got the setup. I'm most curious if it will read the instrument cluster as I've done some reading about a mod on the e46 cluster where you can reprogram the temperature gauge buffer so it actually moves before its too late.
Hmm, haven't tried with PASoft, but I've done it to the Z3s with NCSExpert, as part of the INPA pack. It works well. Don't recommend removing more than 5 degrees off the center line buffer high limit, or else the gauge will move too much. Been there done that.
The stock gauge definitely moves up before it's too late (*when the cooling system isn't neglected, and bled properly. Air in the system is what kills the motors.)
Since the late Z3 cluster is more like the E46 cluster, it may work with PASoft. But it was PASoft 1.36 that was intended for E36.
