    A second one

A maybe addition to the collection. Thinking of a 2006 325i convertible. I have not seen the car yet, but reading about this model says BMW started the convertible model in 2007. Maybe the car is late 2006 or 2007!

Anyway, any one in the e38 family has experience w/the e90 model? Any known issues w/this model (oil leak, timing guides, shocks, struts, cooling, ...)

My main interest in this car is being convertible. I would make this my daily driver and give the e38 a well deserved break and some tlc.

    Any thoughts about the 325?

The E90 has an electronic dipstick and no physical one... that alone is enough to make me not like it.

I did not know about... but am sure someone has come up w/manual dipstick that fits somewhere in the oil pan (something like the aftermarket dipstick for the e38 transmissions).

Any other thoughts about the E90? Any Reliability issues? Affordability of parts? Easy DIY?

The e46 convertible hung around like an old tooth until 2006, so if a 2006 325ci is the actual car, it will not be an e93! Only the e90 sedan started in 2006, while the e92 coupe and e93 vert started in 2007.

I recently got a e60 and I believe some e90 versions share the same engines but maybe a later year as mine is a 2008 so I can't say much about the car but the engine is really good. The electronic dipstick is really strange and I find it really dumb myself but I could not find anything on an aftermarket parts for a manual dipstick.

Now at about 70,000 miles, leaking valve cover and oil filter mount o-ring, plus bad electric water pump, has been the issues I've experienced in ten years of ownership. Oh and the run flat tires, which provide an unusually harsh ride, especially on Atlanta's rough streets. Other than this, it's a reliable car

I believe that what was said above is correct. The 2 door E90 models weren't introduced until the 2007 model year. I believe what you are looking at is an E46.

If the event that the car you are looking at is an E9X model with the N52B30 engine, I have a 2006 325i E90 with 92,000 miles on it. Based on service records (carfax) and repairs that I've had to do myself mine has had a water pump/thermostat at 50k, starter at 50k, at 90k (when I got the car) I had to change two window regulators, the thermostat is bouncing a fault code, I had to change the eccentric shaft sensor, I had to change the pulleys and I suspect that the adapter/seal between the valve body and transmission has gone bad. I don't have any oil leaks, but I have about 3,500 miles since I last changed the oil and I'm about 1/2 quart down according to my electronic dipstick. There is also no spare tire.
