Hi: All 3 of mine are melted. Looks like they went through a nuclear war with the amount of meltdown and cracking. I am getting better at looking up part numbers. Per the link below, are they easy to replace, i.e., just pop out the old ones and replace, or do you have to remove the door, or part of the center console to get these installed? Numbers 16 (center) and 17 (left & right) in the link below. Thanks

Franco: Thanks for the reply. Mine seems different than that. I didn't see any screws holding the trays in place. Mine is a 1996. The armrest slides back and forth to adjust to your elbow resting position. I haven't tried to take/pry the trays out yet. Mine has the middle tray exposed, and the other 2 covered by the individual armrests. I will snap a pic and post, and will try and take a closer look this evening.
Yours is the same as the one Franco posted, you just have to pry out the trays under the pop up arm rests to access the screws. Here's a helpful link:

Actually, I wound up taking a closer look, and I actually have part #18. It popped out in 1 second, however the rubber coating was all cracked. Make a long story short, I was able to scrape it all off, and clean up all the glue. I used a little Brakekleen, so some of the remaining black plastic surface got slightly discolored, however it looks a heck of a lot better than it did, and now I can actually use it. It's not perfect, however it is consistent with the condition of the interior, which is in very good shape overall. I did a search for that part number, and it comes up as discontinued, so I'll stick with what I have for now, unless I get lucky and stumble across a NOS tray. Appreciate everyone who responded.
I'm in the same boat with all 3 trays in mine cracked and wet looking with gooey stuff. For what they are and made of, these things are stupid expensive. $35 for one tray!!!?
BMW and their fetish with plastics....
I might have my old trays some where laying around and also the phone crate if any one needs them
