I need some help here on a central information display replacement. The original screen took a shot to the face and now displays the spider web crack. Think golf ball to a windshield. The car information can still be seen behind the cracked graphic and the IDrive controls are working from the center console. So there would appear to be no problems with the brains of the unit or the controls. Just the display screen. I have ordered a replacement screen only (see photo) and am wondering what complications I might encounter in a swap out. Are any special tools required as a DIY? If I take it to a repair shop - can they do it a with a simple plug & play approach. Looks like a couple of screws and a fiber optic plug that connects the screen to the brain. Or, am I going to be faced with reprogramming something?
