    Auto shut windows/sunroof on lock

Hey guys, today my auto closing of windows and sunroof stopped working all of a sudden. Everyone is aware that when you lock the doors manually from drivers door and hold it, it should shut windows and sunroof. I know it goes through the ZKE but is there any common issues i should check as to why it stopped? relay? fuse? I was shutting the windows with the key and they made it about halfway and everything stopped and now doesnt work. Windows and sunroof still close with switches inside the car. is this an alarm issue? i dont have an alarm module installed or fob or anything. searched but didnt find much. any info would be appreciated

There are two or three micro switches on the lock barrel, easily accessible

I have no sunroof but this works on the passenger (and hatch too I think) lock. Maybe try another lock?

IIRC the switches cli on tp the lock, no need to get a lock, you can probably test by bridging contacts and replace just required switch

I'm going to ask here sinc eit's related. When I hold my key on the drivers side door tot he lock position my windows and sunroof do not close, same for when I hold it on unlock the windows do not go down. Do I need to have the factory alarm for this to work or is it something that should work without keyless entry/ alam? My central locking is working fine.

Mine (since new) has only closed windows when held at lock position. It never opened them, although that was supposedly a feature of the car.

I dont have the factory alarm installed and I don't have keyless entry (unless you count throwing a brick) so that doesn't matter.

    Which car? A '92 won't; a U.S. '96 should.

U.S. cars did not get the factory alarm.

Nahhh, it was not. Where did you hear or read that comfort open was a feature?

In my documentation that came with the car. It may have been generic E36 paperwork too but it came from the dealer when I picked up my car. I probably still have it, along with catalogues and the window sticker but not sure where right now.

I'm talking about the 96. if so then what could cause it to not work?

Any year E36 will not auto open windows with the lock. It only closes. You don't have to have an alarm for it to work mine worked for it's entire life until now with no alarm installed. I have a '99 for reference
