Hello everyone I was lucky to find a 98 323i in a junkyard with a electric fan attached to the radiator which I got for 50$. It's now in my garage and know how to swap radiators but I think I want to keep mine. I know how to swap the fan over but one problem I'm having is where do I connect the fan connecter? I'm not too good with wiring but I'll attach a pic and someone can help me of what's the easiest option to do. I want it to be on most of the time so I'm not taking out the fan in front of ac condenser.
And let me know if this is a good idea to do to replace the mechanical fan that is driven by the motor. IMG_20170624_195705790.jpg
If the fan clutch is in good condition there really is no reason to but in the electric fan. Personally I kind of like the mechanical system, because if the electric fan stops working then you have nothing
The engine driven fan moves more air than the A/C condenser fan. If you have only the A/C condenser fan the engine will probably over heat at low speed or when stopped and idling.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

agreed - can't see much reason to do this myself. sure, on a track car - but, something that sees significant street time - no need.
'95 325iS - auto to manual swap done!
Also if the fan clutch is good there is hardly any load on the engine when the fan isn't needed. You can easily stop the fan with you hand when the clutch is not engaged.
