    emission inspection problems Texas

Took my 2000 bmw 323i for inspection and it failed on the emission test. Fault codes were P0443, evaporative emission control system purge control valve circuit malfunction. P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1). P0440 evaporative emission control system malfunction. Any solutions to this? Check engine light has never come on! Hopefully not a new catalytic converter...car not worth the cost.

Sounds like you need to replace the purge valve and the pre-cat O2 sensor on bank 1 for starters.

As far as the cat eff fault, some folks have installed those spark plug adaptors between the post cat 02 so the sensor is pulled away from the exhaust stream and will read the eff differently and not set fault, interesting.
