Ok, so I'm in the process of negotiating a deal on a car. The autocheck came back squeaky clean but the carfax is showing an accident. I'm not 100% up on the verbiage, does anyone have any thoughts on how serious or not serious this accident may have been? Title is not reconstructed, so I at least know it wasn't a total loss.

shows front damage, maybe minor. That does lower the value of the car.
Airbags didn't deploy and it shows "functional damage"...any idea what that could mean?

Probably that it could drive away from the accident. Who knows. It should lower the price so use this as a negotiating tool
The guy probably rear ended someone, but not too badly. My question would be how the repairs were done. Were parts replaced? Bondo used? BMW parts used? Who did the repairs?
What would worry me is that the accident happened not all that long ago. Repairs that aren't done correctly can leave you rust and peeling paint in the near future.
Still a bargaining point if you really like the car.
Seems like it's not a huge deal. Definitely use it to negotiate the price down. if it's all fixed up though it should make a good dd.
