Question about pedal area, see pics

I'm new to the 8 series, previously had an E38 and E39. Bought a 93 850ci with a 6speed and in the process of fixing things. Someone hacked this poor car up and I'm having a hard time determining what went where and what's missing.
One thing is for certain though, I'm sure those twist ties holding the gas pedal shaft are not BMW issue!
Can someone tell me how it attaches or what's missing?
    Much appreciated.

You need two of these: 35411154172

    and one of these: 35411155837

Total cost should be about $1.00

However, seeing as you're in Irvine and I live right off Jamboree, I can give you the second part for free, as I have an extra laying around. I will be back in town on Wed.

...be sure and grease the new bushings before installing, some tend to bind and play with the idle when not greased.

Can't believe the PO skimped on a few bucks worth of hardware and used cable ties to attach that shaft - not only is it illegal, it's also very dangerous.

Agreed. We have no safety inspections here in CA, which is why you see so many oil burner pieces of shit on every road.
    What "thumbs up" really means

Will do. Have the bushings already.
Just finished soldering new capacitors in the general module. Crossing my fingers that it works well tomorrow.
Aside from normal faults in a car this age, much of the interior looks to have been disassembled and put back together by a 5 year old. No regard regard given. Has good bones though and being a manual I really like it.

    lol, same here in NJ.
As long as your doesn't spew hydrocarbons over the specified limit your ok. otherwise NJ could care less about the safety features of your car working.
