I used to have a 135i, which I added a tune, exhaust, intake, and a couple other things, and I read that the early (mine was an 08 model) N54 engines had all forged internals, crank, rods, and pistons.
I read about the N55 and noted that they had changed to cast internals on the single turbo N55.
I wanted to know if the N54 on my 2011 335is is like the old versions, with forged internals, or did they cheese out and put cast parts in the newer versions of the N54?
My understanding is N54 is forged & N55 is cast.
N54 has forged cracked rods, and a forged crank. N54 has only ever had cast pistons. I believe the n55 is the same.
