    E36 window issue

Has anyone ever had an issue where their passenger window goes halfway up then starts to back off so you have to click the button over and over to get it to go up the rest of the way? Would this issue be the regulator or motor most likely?

I have the same issue on the driver side in my vert. I still haven't figured it out, I have a feeling it's the window position sensor. I already tried swapping buttons and nada.

Yes I have. I think on both windows now on the coupe. As noted above I think it means the motor (at least the counter/position part of it) is starting to fail.

If you have one touch close and have done the procedure where you wind the window up and hold the up button to learn the top stops but it still intermittently stops and backs off like the anti-trap function has activated I solved this on my coupe by setting the anti-trap settings to those of a saloon or compact, because that allows for slightly higher resistance before activating the anti-trap.

Yeah, that's not the issue. It's got to be motor or micro switch related

    16 - 20 pin adapter
vag com / obdII / KKL cable (FTDI 232RL chipset if USB)
    NCSexpert read the trace
    Open the trace with NCSdummy
    Set the anti-trap
Save as .man (dummy will do it for you)
Use NCSexpert to write it back

I expect it is not a micro switch because the problem can be fixed in software (if like mine) it must be measuring a resistance or load

With the OPs video once above the sticking point it goes up one touch, that was what mine were doing.

Unfortunately I do not have OBD2 to connect to, this is a 1993 325is

Doesn't have to be you get about 80% of modules with the stuff I said above anyway, including the body control module. You wouldn't buy the 16-20 pin adapter if you had the OBDII socket under dash.

    Unless yours doesn't have a ZKE - I don't know older than our 94 and 95 325 and 328 respectively
