    Finally finished

Don't have before pictures but trust me it was worn out! I have had car now for about 3 years now. I have a E65, E61 and an my wife and I share a E46 M3, but there is something about this car I love the most. It has never giving me any problems. The car had the DSP audio system which was removed and replaced with a OEM Nav system ( junkyard find ).

The M5 seats make the beige dashtop look acceptable. Nice. The silver trim clashes a bit, but I assume that's the real deal titan line from an M5?

I wanted to do something other than the wood, you see it in just about every E39.....and wasn't sure about how the black piano finish would look.

There was a sandbeige trim that came in beige/beige cars that can be found. That would look good in this car, or instead of piano black a set of the infamous anthracite birch.

did you re-do your headliner, or was it just meticulously maintained through the years?

Is that a tan suede headliner? Wow. And that's the first time I've ever seen M5 seats dyed in sandbeige... looks better than I expected!

Will have to look color up. The headliner was done in Alcantara

WOW - I hate to say I am not a "beige interior" fan....but the way you have done this certainly could convert someone...!! Something about the silver trim kinda makes it crisp too. Darned thing is clean enough to perform surgery in....!! What a gorgeous car....you can tell you're invested in it. WBAD has a good idea on that birch trim though. Do love the headliner too....interior/exterior mirrors...etc...nicely done.
Everything about it screams "someone loves me...!!" Really really sharp car !!!

Great looking car,, clean as a pin. On the Nav unit, how much work was that to install?. Just saw a junked ride with one in it, and was wondering about doing the same .

Thanks everyone...... as you all know it doesn't happen over night. I have been building this car for almost 3 years and still not done. Next is to get the rim powder coated the correct color and I would love to get my hand on a crash M5 so I can do the swap.

Poolman the Nav was not hard but a LOT of work. We had to remove the entire wiring harness for the audio system, from the radio to the trunk and in a junkyard car that was no easy task, then had to do it all over again in mines. The only problem that we had was getting the DSP amp to integrate in to the new system. Currently the car has 3 amps. One for the 2 subs, one for the door speakers and tweeters and the DSP amp for the factory sub and I the rear speaker on the roof ( can remember what the hell the DSP amp play )

jp5Touring I will let you know when its up for sale as soon as I find the other trim.

Whoa....that came out amazing. Makes me think twice about replacing my sandbeige interior....

I had thought of doing the alcantara headliner ever since doing one in a brand new 2004 A8 back in the day, but didn't know how it looked. Seeing yours pretty much sealed the deal on keeping my interior...

I have DSP too, and was looking to eliminate it as the factory amp went South leaving me with zero sounds. I had planned to go aftermarket but running all my own wires seems to be a monumental task...

On the nav wiring, did you remove it from another touring, or was it from a sedan? Does the nav , have a CD player?

Hey, I think I've seen your car at Extreme Performance muffler when the exhaust work was being done! Very nice. I've got an AW touring as well!

WOW small world....yea they did the work. They did a real good job that everyone else i took it to made it see like a ton of work.

itsbrokeagain: it is a real pain in the A** but the sound is like night and day......its worth the hard work.

Poolman: the wiring came from the sedan, no cd play...I use my iPod instead of the cd. I didn't have much luck with the CD changer, after the second one i went to the iPod.

Nicely done. I have the sand beige interior as well. I definitely dig the luxury seats and what you've done to your Touring. Still searching for a set for my Touring. Can't wait to get cracking on mine.

Where did you source your rear bumper? Found one on eBay for around $400 or so. Looking for one a bit less.

Yeah, they do great work! I was getting the E90 M3 exhaust done at the time. I got the wagon as a daily a few weeks after I saw yours. Hope to see ya around!

    Hi

Smx55 - I was just about to say, 'It's never finished! Always another modification that you could do' ! but you've beaten me to it! Loving the Alpine White Touring club we have on this forum the other's are all sweet as well ! Are those genuine Style 65s? Also, what's the rest of the plans for the car ?! I like the exhaust's final look, could you post how the pipework looks like from underneath the car please? I'm assuming you modified the boot/trunk floor near the battery compartment so that pipes would fit there and then connected to the main exhaust further 'around' the spare tyre well?

    For those of you above thinking/looking about what to do with the audio, a little reminder of the setup I evaluated for our cars and then implemented;

    https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-Audio-Upgrade

Installing the RCA's and Speaker wires from front to rear wasn't too difficult nor time consuming, with all the wires in place over the course of about 4 hours or so. My car didn't have nav, so in the dash location I had the power/ground/antenna connections. I also ran a dedicated amp remote on wire. I didn't use the oem speaker wires, so just cut the harness/wires bit for those.

Rossage - finding a Sport rear bumper is very rare and the pricing at $400 USD is quite reasonable. Check that with the price of a new item from BMW though, it 'might' be worthwhile getting it from a BMW dealer.

My car is a little bit battle damaged currently, still in daily use though! I will provide updates for all you guys as soon as things are sorted!

    Cheers, Dennis!

Nice work on the car...very tasteful. (I also went with the brushed metal look for interior trim) I am in the process of finishing mine as well and will post pics soon.

Looking to add backup camera to mine also...did you utilize the factory TV module for integration into the nav? If not can you please let me know what you did to install? Thanks in advance.

Very nice wagon, very nice work done to it. I would be curious to learn more about your exhaust work. I see you have a dual exhaust system.
