    Source for Charcoal Canister

Need to replace the charcoal canister on my '82 320i due to damage from a battery acid leak. Does anyone know of an aftermarket source?

The usual parts houses seem to only have the OE part at +$100 which seems spendy to me. The OEM is Purolator and the part number is 00-701. At one point these were easy to find from several sources but I am not having much luck.

    Any insight appreciated.

    Hi,

I may have a new one that I will not be using. I will check on it tonight and PM you.

If MJ does not have one - I put a used one out of an E30 in one of mine, California smog guys do not know what a stock one looks like - but just that you have one. So should work in a pinch.

Beam318ti - thanks for the reply and will look forward to your PM.

OLD MAN - good point regarding the E30 part being the same. If I cannot get my hands on a new one then I will try to find one from a part-out/junkyard. E30's are slim pickings in junkyards around here but they show up from time to time.

I wish. The end cover is welded on. I suppose it's possible if the charcoal and foam pads were attainable.

Here's a pic of the internals. This was one of my old ones that deteriorated. Many of the pellets fell into the vent line, clogging the vent line (not good). The engine probably ate a bunch of pellets too.

I'm not sure if the layout is correct, all the pieces fell out when I cut it open, lol.
