...and now the speakers go on me

So I am about 80% done with my e38 rehabilitation (but I truly fear the last 20%) and my speakers stop working. I know it is not the radio, as the monitor still works and I can see the station showing up on it, but I am trying to find where things could be going wrong. My mechanic's guess is that it is somewhere directly behind the radio 'in the wires somewhere' but I am wondering if there might be another answer. I'm not sure what makes sense here: Amplifier? Other wire/solder breaking down? Any direction would be helpful!

Fuse or the whole thing? (by the way, thanks for the quick reply - I was going to have a peek in the morning)

Replace the amp with one just like it.

Crap, I was hoping it was just the fuse.

Yeah, you'd hope it was just a fuse (maybe) - check the one back by the battery. But Mool's likely right that the amp went south. Mool; might it be the NAV also? I had issues with my setup and it was the NAV.

Got a junk yard nearby? May not be ideal, but, I've had a lot of good luck on stuff like this at our local bone yard. Basically just plug 'n play (just disconnect battery first).

Just tried it; NAV working fine.

But in light of the posts above, I don't feel better...

Is the relevant fuse listed by name?

The 20% is 80% suspension. Weird clunky noises on some bumps, occasional snapping noises in the front when steering hard over, possible edc/sls failure (edc is always on, very firm, rear of car a little saggy), adjustment of sunroof necessary, cigarette lighter needs to be reconnected. Air bubble in cooling system that can annoy.

But I'll tell you, nothing limps like a BMW. With all the issues it has remaining, it is still gossamer at 80mph. And since I had the flex disk replaced, it is magnificent in terms of acceleration. This was my flex disk...

'nuf said. I unwittingly drove from Ontario to TN to VA (3000km) with it like this. Only a BMW...

My front suspension popped and creaked and snapped until I put a new lemforder kit in. The upper thrust arms will make tons of noise if loose. Even the new part will if it is not bolted super tight.

My 99 Rear deck speakers don't work? Every other speaker works. Is that an amp problem? or a connection issue?
