    Aluminum block m52 stroker

This is going to be a n/a motor for my GTS2 race car, but I know a lot of forced induction guys have built strokers so I figured I'd ask here.

I'm wondering what size headgasket I should use for this build. I'd like to get compression around 11:1 and run 93 octane. I think the stock head gasket is either 1.75 or 2.03mm. Also should I be safe using the stock 21# injectors since those are what came on the s50's with 3.0l?

Any other recommendations or ideas to do "while I'm in there?"

Currently I have an full aluminum m52, s52 crank, m54 rods and pistons, and s52 cams. The goal is to get the powerband as linear as possible while using a restrictior plate to stay legal.

    Thanks!

25,000 miles (fingers crossed) on my built 3.0 stroker in an M52 single Vanos aluminum block. I built it carefully with designs on 300+whp. Getting there - 270/240 right now with room to grow. I'm using 24lb injectors though. No comment on the headgasket. My pistons are forged 84.5mm 11.5:1 compression. The crank is same as you - S52 and rods are Molnar.

That's awesome man! Good to know that it's possible to do it reliably! I'm guessing you honed the cylinders and timeserted the block? Did you us ARP head studs? Also what vibration damper is that?

I do not have a build thread. But there are a few posts here (BimmerForums) discussing my build. Yes, the block was Timeserted but no, I did not use ARP studs. I used OEM, and not to cheap out. I was told by a VERRYYY reputable engine builder (Jim Rowe from Metric Mechanic) that the OEM bolts were better from a metallurgy point of view for my build. The block was bored and honed for the .5mm oversized pistons and the damper is an ATI unit.

Interesting. Did you use OEM head bolts or head studs? When I spoke to VAC the recommended timeserting and using studs to have less pulling force on the threads of the block which makes sense to me.

And is it the VAC ATI damper? I was considering getting one, but those things cost as much as I paid for the engine and I'm not sure if it'd be worth it.

Jaker did you have thin wall sleeves put in it or did they replate the cylinders?

This block is not nikasil. It is a traditional iron sleeves cast into aluminum construction.

I used OEM (M10 x 110mm) head bolts. The damper is not the VAC one. It is one that I bought from Pure Performance in California. I believe they had a batch made by ATI some time back. I've had mine for 4 years or so, and it came to me slightly used as well.
