    '82 320i M10 Upgrade to '83 318i M10 w/ Electronic Fuel Injection

    Hi everyone,
Last year I purchased an '83 318i with the M10 engine and electronic fuel injection with an intention of upgrading my engine ('82 320i M10) with the help of a friend. Now I am realizing that my friend is permanently relocating out of state and I need help getting this upgrade / conversion done. Does anyone have any contacts in the Ventura or LA County area that could take this work on for a reasonable price? Has anyone done this? I know my friend has. Does anyone know of existing threads on this upgrade? How much would you estimate I would need to pay for someone to do this?

Any help, feedback or recommendations would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Here you go -

    Edit-

Looks like I remembered that build a little differently, but the ideas are the same. If you have the time/inclination, that build wouldn't be a bad one to copy outright.

That's not an upgrade. Just don't do it. The original K-jet system is difficult to diagnose and repair, but the L-jet EFI is full on impossible to diagnose and repair. It's only an upgrade if you go to Megasquirt etc programmable EFI, which is not legal in CA.

I like the way you tell it like it is

320Tom, is there anything wrong with your k-jet system?

I agree, it's not an upgrade. However, I haven't had any issues with how it runs. I still get about 25-28mpg highway, power doesn't seem any different. It's honestly a really simple system. Only uses a few sensors to run properly.
