2008 535 xi wagon with Dinan Stage 2 software.
136,000 miles, original turbos replaced under warranty long ago.
I noticed an odor coming from the front of the car that smelled like something was getting very hot. The leading edge of the hood and front fenders are nearly too hot to touch for more then a few seconds. There are no leaks, noises or loss of performance. I'm VERY gentle driving the car. It has no other performance modifications. Any thoughts on a cause? Thank you so much for your assistance.
Hi Gregg - welcome to the forum! Did the car throw any codes and if so, are you able to pull them?

What did you see or feel or notice when you looked under the hood? If you can't get that far, find a good independent mechanic.
On my e39 I vented the engine compartment by removing the sealing strip between the micro filter housings so there is a gap at the back middle if the hood when closed, I also vented the cylinder head cover plus I have a fresh air hose bringing air into the engine compartment from a scoop next to the fog lamp. Even on the hottest day hey hood is not very hot at all
