Ever since I acquried my 5/90 735iL w/Lad there has been a squeaking in the rear end that is only comparable to the noise a spring mattress makes when two people are enjoying themselves on it .
I thought my LAD was dying but after reading shoguns opinions on the quality of the system and discovering a very loose power steering hose I have been able to safely consider that the noise is coming from something in the suspension like a dirty bushing or ball joint. If anyone has any experience with a similar issue I would greatly appreciate any advice.
This vehicle had one owner for 170k miles and the maintenance has been immaculate with the exception of some suspension neglect. Thanks in advance!

Does the squeak happen if the car is parked, engine running and you jump up and down in the trunk (lid open of course!)? If you hear it, get a mechanic's stethoscope from HF (or a long handle screwdriver) and put it on the top of the shock tower bolts. That may help you isolate the noise. The shade tree solution is to spray the rear suspension with silicone lube which would quiet the rubber stuff. Happy hunting...
I had such noise some years ago, turned out to be the dogbones. I had used some cheapo dogbones, they even did not have enough grease inside, did not last very long. Use quality dogbones like these http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/51276

Ditto on the bones. I had the same thing, replaced with two Lemforder ones. BavAuto.com had the best price, by far, at $39.00 each.
10643 02 REAR TRAILING ARM LINK - LEMFOERDER $39.95 2 $79.90

I had suspected a dog bone issue from reading through the forums but wanted to hear it directly from the forums mouth.
Is new the only way to go on those, or is it realistic to pull some from the junkyard?
thanks again!
That are wear items, on the junkyard you probably only find old ones with the rubber boots already damaged and the grease gone

I am now having this issue after installing what I thought were decent dog bones, but the rubber still looks fine. Is there a particular spray lube that will do the trick? I do have some white lithium grease in an aerosol can.
i remember once, on my older car (not a bmw, only a diesel car) i replaced upper arm brand new, not oem, its brand new, and it squeaks like crazy. i tried to lube the rubber, the inner collar that the bolt arm protrude through, no luck..i went back to the workshop, the mechanic lubed here and there, loosen and tighten everywhere, mentioned that my hub caused it... and i said, change it, and if the noise still there, im not gonna pay for the hub, and yes its still there. i told them to change to a new upper arm. and all the squeaks is gone..sometimes factory defect or low quality items caused unecessary noises..
