    Remodeling Interior

So I have upcoming plans for my dash and carpet, both of which have already been removed. I plan on just ordering some carpet off the Internet. I remember there was a lot of foam padding on the front on my carpet when I pulled out the old one. The new carpet won't be affected by heat or anything will it? The padding in the old carpet wasn't meant to protect from heat or anything was it? I just don't want to install this carpet the have it melt or get messed up.

The foam is heat and noise insulation. It's not hot enough to melt new carpet, but if you want carpet that actually looks good, you would do better to find a used carpet, clean the hell out of it (I like to lay it across a sawhorse and powerwash - you won't believe how much crap comes out), and re-dye it.

I like the idea, but I'm going for ease. Besides that I plan on restoring every aspect of this car, but in a style I like and shit. Just need panels to hide where the the wiring is on each side. What panel would you call the one that covers the abs computer and all that wiring and stuff?

The foam also protects under-floor ducts to rear-passenger hot air, and any front seat wiring for heated seats. You could do your own foam panels, perhaps with a layer cut out to accommodate the ducting and/or wiring. The footwell also has an extra-thick foam corner on the passenger side; this might provide better comfort than the sharp bank up the firewall.

If you want ease, why do you want to try to make a badly fitted carpet work, when you could buy one for minimal money that will drop in?
