I am doing some work on my interior specifically my seats and I am trying to repaint the dark silver gray seat coverings. The pieces around the bottom with the switches and the housing around the seatbelts. I have now purchased two colors of SEM vinyl/plastic paint that in no way, shape or form match the color. The color chips represented online are way off or my monitor/printer are or both. I've read good things about the product and process but can't find any threads on the colors used for E31 interiors. For reference my car is White with Light Silver Grey Nappa (M5SH). Does anybody know what SEM color is the closet match?
Go to leatherique.com. They can fix you up. There is a thread on here where someone used their products on refirbing his seats ans they came out fantastic.
I had my paint guy match my color, it's the plastic paint that has a kind of rubbery surface. Looks great.

The seats in my '91 850i are LEDER NAPPA/SILBERGRAU HELL MIT SCHWARZ (0354/M5SD) (from the build sheet). I used Color Plus standard color # 438 Light Silver Gray (https://colorplus.com/products/standard-color-chart/) and it was an exact match. Very helpful folks, they even sent me a sample before I ordered. Here's a before and after on my E31:

I've also used their color matching service for the dark green leather on a couch. Sent in a sample and got an exact match back. Lots of good info on leather on their site, worth a read. Products are good. I repaired a worn spot in the driver's seat of my 1975 Ferrari 308GT4 with their products over 20 years ago, and it's still holding up.
No affiliation, blah, blah... https://colorplus.com/
Any good paint shop can custom mix SEM paint in a pint or quart, and the quality is WAY better than the generic spray can. It's a better coverage, and holds up better as well.
Find a good spot (like headrest) and take it in. Have a quart custom mixed.
Then use one of these to apply it.
