Hi Guys! first post on here so go easy on me
picked up a used late 2005 e60 525d today, 6 speed manual, FSH and 78k on the clocks, the car is nigh on immaculate inside and out, however when driving it this afternoon on its first proper drive it seems to completely lack power to the point that it struggles to achieve 80mph in any gear and it almost hits like an old fashioned fuel cut at 4000 rpm it will not exceed it at all with almost zero power.
now i am aware the the car had been sat on the forecourt for a period of time and its last service completed by BMW was just over 3 thousand miles ago where it had a full inspection, the i drive is showing no faults and that everything is at least 9000 miles away from its next service.
any help would be greatly appreciated, the car is under warranty but i would like to be informed before and if a battle arises with the dealer.
Cheers!
Hello and welcome to the forum! I would highly suggest getting the car's codes pulled. Although you may not be getting an Engine Check Light; there are likely stored codes that will give you a point of reference on where to start troubleshooting. If you're going to be doing any word yourself on the car, then take a look at the link below to our site's DIY tech articles on the E60 platform. Hope this helps and best of luck!
