Reposting from another forum. Much thanks to "Jim E".
I had my DEF tank replaced a few months ago, at 117,xxx miles or so. Now I get the pleasure of fighting BMWNA to reimburse me. Especially tough as I had it done at an Indy.
PS: I'm just turned over 120K this last week. I guess that's good.
2009-2011 335d has now been added to the limited warranty extension of 10 years/120,000 miles covering the SCR Active Tank.
And even more good news: NOx sensors Extended Warranty
Both sensors (Front and Rear) are now covered for 10Y 120,000 miles
BMW NOx sensors warranty.pdf
I received the NOx sensor extended warranty letter and had both of them replaced as the code just popped up, go luck on that one. I didn't received the SCR Active Tank warranty extension and I just pulled a P205C code. Does anyone know how to look up your vehicle to see if it falls under this warranty? Looked over the BMWNA website and I'm not seeing anything obvious to search.
Try plugging your VIN in at BMW-RP.com (this is the reimbursement site.)
I took my '11 335d to the dealer on Tuesday. I asked how long, tech says diesels are tough will have 2 cycle a few times to find the problem. I respond: the NOx sensor is giving a code, the DEF add light came on while I was on a 400 mile trip. I add BMW DEF and would not reset and after 5 miles the 999 count down began. The tech responds w/when do I want my car back!!! I knew I was in trouble. They called the next day and said the DEF tank needs to be replaced and the SCR active tank as well as the sensor. Then says my service warranty will cover it. but have to call back and see if they cover that. I say ok. I get home and I find the BMW letter and I get pissed! Next day I call my Service co. and inform them and emailed the pdf of the BMW extending the warranty (I have 78K). I also called BMW-USA corporate/or whomever. They defended the dealership and said they should tell me why it's not covered by BMW. 2 hrs later rep from Service warranty calls and said they pulled my policy and all parts are or would be covered, however there was not an open claim, i.e. BMW has not called it in. Come to find out corporate or whomever contacted the dealership and they are covering the bill! Yeah! So then I ask what about a loaner? Still waiting, I guess the loaner will be the return of my 335d.
My 1st Bimmer, 3 days and I'm sad and lonely, missing my whip!
Pics to come
Got car back, yeah! ? 206 miles later check engine light reappears! DeNOX system effiency @ low, code 004D16. Same code as on 9/29/17, looking for my paperwork to see all of what was done. For some reason I don't recall if they changed the big 3 (SCR & DEF tanks and sensor).
So Im passed 120K miles...i guess they won't fix my SCR tank. Did anyones car go into limp mode? My car went into limp mode and I pulled a few codes.
4BC6,46F9,4A6E49A5,4530. I have a code reader from ECS Tuning, just ordered a INPA cable. Im curious if i just delete the EGR,remove the Def tank,, swirl flap it, and down pipe and get a reflash will it fix my dam tank def issues while increasing power etc. IM just baffled with this limp mode!!! gonna swap out the mass sensor this week.
Anyone have insite on repairs!
