New to BMWs and new to the Forum as well!
One of my friends graciously gifted me his project car!
He picked it up for free in 2013 since it was DOA. Odo at 219,631. He found an engine from a 328i in a junkyard with 90k miles and swapped the engine. I don't have the full list of everything he did, but he replaced the entire cooling system (apparently they go bad in e39s?) and all the gaskets and seals he could find in the engine bay. He replaced all the window motors, rear glass hinge, and some various other stuff. He tried to swap the factory nav out for aftermarket but ran into issues with the DSP and didn't want to deal with it. I have the factory nav and I'm thinking of putting it up on eBay since he cut a bunch of the wires and harnesses off.
But, it hadn't been washed in probably 6-7 years and has been outside pretty much its entire life. So I spent an entire day washing, goo-gone-ing, shampooing, and conditioning every surface.
Currently the ABS module is out getting repaired and I'm considering sending off the DIC since that's pretty low cost as well. All new floor mats are enroute as well as some proper cup holders.
It's going to be my Daily Driver taking over duties from my 2016 SS. The engine purrs like a kitten which has some adjustment compared to the lion roar of an LS3

Wait, you have a 2016 SS and you're going to be daily driving a 528it? I love BMW as much as the next guy here, but I'd take an SS in a heartbeat.
Also, it looks like your clear coat is all gone. I guess that's what happens when you let an E39 sit outside for that long without taking care of the paint.

Sport package, style 5 wheels, the rare option of window shades, nice pickup, a desirable package. The paint looks very much like it ended up on my 00 touring, just on certain panels. I could feel the (non factory) paint line on those panels, indicting a partial repaint. You're fortunate it's a 528, I liked that one a lot better than the 02, 525it we have now. You can run BMW 6's hard all day long with no issues. As long as you keep it full of oil and water. The cooling systems are weak, the radiators are 100K maintenance items, the electric thermostats fail, but without major consequence and some of the other plastic in the cooling system is failure prone. But taking our previous wagon up to 253k before selling it I never had to add a drop of oil.

Who did you send your ABS module to?
Looks like a great project.. I'm much like you.. just replaced the head gasket and the cooling system has been replaced, AC is cold and minor items items. just needs paint. Welcome
I got my ABS back today and it’s working great! I found some guy on eBay, it was 107$ incl return shipping. Turn around was super fast!! https://www.ebay.com/itm/230765502729
Got the floor mats in and that was well, well worth it as well.
