I have zero interest in four cylinder turbo engines in these cars. If you are going to swap, we have LS-based V8s that make 1000+ hp naturally aspirated.

I know what you're getting at. But for my purposes from a rules perspective, a FI 2,000cc car gets to weigh significantly less than a 5.7 or 6.0 NA car. And the power I expect to achieve is more than adequate for autocross in a 2,600lb car.

Thanks for the info Jason. See what I can do without a full box.

So, back to wider is better, are you guys also tweaking the rear diff ratio as you get to bigger tires? My 95 still has a 3.15, I'd think that wouldn't match too well with 265/40-17's or bigger and still be faster.

I'm definitely messing with the diff ratio. I guess it depends on what you expect from the car. For my purposes, I'm after 75-78mph in 2nd gear without touching the rev limiter. For my new drivetrain, that means 9,000 rev limit, 295/30-18 tires and a 3.46:1 FD - 77mph.
