Yes and no, unless it is a company operated vehicle in which you may have a better chance

You are just on a bad streak these days. Hope it ends soon. I don't know about the gasket. The pickup truck's insurance would have denied any claim - road hazard damage, but yours should cover it (less your deductible). Call your agent or company and check. When I lived in MA the companies offered a glass rider for cheap that covered all glass replacement without a deductible. Here in NC its part of comprehensive coverage and triggers the deductible. On the bright side, in a round about perverse way this might help fix your mirror problem.

    ok a FYI update..

local dealer....399 for glass.......not rain sensor.

    about 340 for gasket!

    local well liked indie:

280 all in...but generic gasket, and FYG ( Chinese) glass......which btw gets decent reviews.

    I wanted to wait a few weeks...lick my wounds.....but in 20 hrs..my scar has grown like 4 inches......wtf..sheesh

Have you seen what the Z3 coupe windshield gasket looks like? No generic gasket will ever look like it.

You should find part number 51718399109 online. ECS has it for $283, may find it even cheaper at http://thebmwminipartstore.com/

Personal experience gasket will end up falling apart when the glass is removed, or at least on two of my old cars is needed to be replaced.

You might get lucky both mine Florida cars that lived outside most of their lives. The 99 was done in 2012 and the 02 2010.

Ya, if you can find someone patient enough to remove old windshield carefully, maybe.

I've removed mine with the "piano wire" method (helping my dealer tech cousin change windshield), and windshield came out without damage, don't remember how well the old seal came out. But this was on the roadster.

The "generic gasket" won't do. It'll look horrible.

You can use it on the roadster but not the coupe. I've seen coupes with it and it looks strange. If you want to save money go for it.

15 year old molding probably won't work again but there are methods of saving it. You can search for a glass shop that uses Python or something similar

To try and save the molding. I would still have a new one on hand.

Piano wire method I wouldn't recommend can scratch paint and interior parts as well.
Oh and I wouldn't call it a gasket but a molding instead. Gaskets will seal things this molding does not. Glue on the pinch weld will be the seal.

I had my windshield replaced a year or so ago. I bought a new ga$$$$ket and had it on hand, and when the tech pulled my old one he said it was in great shape so we reused it.

My car has been driven a good amount, but has had quite a sheltered life when it comes to not sitting out in harsh sun, so that probably helped out.

I kept the new one as a spare.

PWG glass and OEM gasket works perfect, no need for OEM glass top
