I just bought a 325i with 160k on it. The AC clutch won't come on and neither will the fan. I hooked up the Modis and I can engage both the clutch and turn on the fan so I can assume the wiring is good. Is there anyway to test the lower radiator hose sensor? Or is there anything else I should look for? I used the search function but didn't find anything on testing the sensor.
Greasemykey......I'm new too here and also to BMW. I also have ..new to me..a 325xi, a similar version to your car...If you can provide dc to the fan motor and it runs..it may be ok but if now in time having to work harder...due to excessive bearing ware, can and will generate excessive dc resistance! A smart car can detect this..and thus abort. Expect high-end technology in BMW cars.
I swapped in another fan from a friends bmw and I still have the same issue.
I just ordered the temp sensor from rock auto. Hopefully this is my issue. I don't like throwing parts at a car bit I can't find out how to test it.

It's written by BMW-NORTH. It's very comprehensive. Don't buy crappy aftermarket sensors for your car. They fail.
