    Possibly Purchasing a 2006 BMW 528i

Recently my last car was totaled in an unfortunate accident concerning an Uber driver and I am now in the market for a car. I previously had driven a Toyota Prius and have decided to try something different and possibly go for a BMW. I have never owned one before and heard that this community was incredibly knowledgeable. The car I have found is a 2006 BMW 528i. I found it on a craigslist post, and based on the info present it seems pretty serious. Firstly, based on the pictures it looks that the exterior condition of the car is stellar considering the mileage put on the vehicle, which is 184,000. Interior wise the vehicle has a tan leather interior, which is also in stellar condition. As far as repair and service information is concerned the poster says they recently replaced the AT Transmission, the transmission cooler, the transmission thermostat, heater valve, and there was a recent oil change and air filter replacement. They recently replaced the tires and breaks as well. They also stress that they are only selling the car because they have to, and that they love the vehicle, which I have learned from these forums as being a good sign. Based on this information, I am wondering if the car sounds like a safe prospect to investigate. Also, based on the repair information and the mileage put on the vehicle, I am wondering what repairs may be expected in the near future, assuming I was to purchase the vehicle.

With that many miles, I would strongly recommend that you have a mechanic or even better the BMW dealer perform a multi point inspection.

Read this PDF. Also +1 on pre purchase inspection by a qualified independent BMW repair shop or BMW dealer. Also ensure repair history is substantially documented with hard copies of repairs and services.
