any running bosch (0221504470) coil packs. They are reasonably priced on amazon but curious as to their use.

    bosch coil packs

I ordered my second set a couple weeks ago at 166k miles. I got 51k miles on first set before misfires returned. I didn't do any diagnosis as to the misfires. I just changed coils and plugs. I prolly could have gotten a few more miles out of them by cleaning the plugs, as they had a fair amount of carbon on them, but I like fresh plugs and coils.

Bosch coils are no longer recommended by BMW and have been replaced by Delphi or Eldor on N63 which is why they are cheap on Amazon. They will work however...for a while atleast.

I just replaced 6 coils and 6 plugs, 74k in miles. Eldor and NGk's. 5 of the original coils were Bosch and 1 had NO branding at all. Not even a engineering number. The corresponding plug was a Denso. One of those "send me a coil and plug for this car, let me try something.." that the PO probably had performed.

To my understanding, Original Bosch's were fine for the most part, but little by little they were coming back with high failure rates (Mainly with E65's at first in my experience). A lot of these coils were already replaced by the dealer under warranty years ago.

Currently BMW uses Eldor and Delphi, which is what i would suggest. That's not saying you may have luck with Bosch.

I've got about 10k on my Bosch OE coils and they're fine so far. FCPEuro had a hell of a package at the time, coils and spark plugs for less than what you would have paid to buy all six on Amazon. The plugs were horribly gapped, but a little work and they're perfect. Time might tell me otherwise, but I'd buy the Bosch ones again.
