    Late model Seat Swap to 3.0CS and/or 88 M6

Don't want to reinvent the wheel... Have any of you found some junkyard seats from a late model 6- 5- or 3-series car and dropped them into the older E24 or E9 cars. I have both and the new seats are so nice that this seems like a logical modification. Yes?

Thanks in advance for your help

By the way, can fabricate the floorboards to match the bolt pattern of the late model seat. No plug -in-play expected, just juice 'em up with 12-volts to make the tilt, forward/aft, up/down work. (Am I trying to make this too simple?)

In terms of straight bolt-in's, E28 into an E24 isn't any real work, but be aware that if the seats don't pivot forward, it's tough accessing the back seat. Stitching pattern is also opposite on E28 seats (fore and aft, versus left to right). E30 seats need adapters, and you'd want 2-door seats, for the back pivot. I've got no idea what might fit an E9. I've recently seen the E36/M3 "Vader" seats in an E24 as well as E34 in an E28, but I couldn't tell you what was done.

I installed E46 M3 seats into my '79 E24. Took a little bit of fabrication, not too bad. I really like the comfort of the E46 sport seats

Dean and Prairieman, thanks for the responses. (Nice cars in the signature, too.)

It is that kind of information that confirms this might be an easy to do project. Would love to hear from someone that may have put the E64/64 seat in. Or, how 'bout the E90 series sport seat (so comfortable). Also, looking for confirmation that a 12-volt hot wire will allow the tilt and forward/aft movement of the seat. Not concerned with heat or memory that are controlled by the interior's control module.

    Others?

    Thanks, RP

Well that is refreshing to hear. My 81 "comfort" seats are anything but comfortable, they are actually horrible, i have back pain sometimes after i drive the car more than 2 hours.
e46 seats are readily available and might be a good swap.
    Thanks

Seats are out there. Waiting to hear that the 12-volt hot wire thing will work to do forward/aft, up/down, and tilt. Prairieman, are the E46 seats electric front/aft, up/down, tilt?

    Thanks, RP

Considering similar upgrades myself. Has anyone swapped in a pair of 5 series (E34) front seats into an E24 (88)? The standard 5 series seats, I don't think is considered "sport" seats as the ones I'm contemplating do not have adjustable thigh supports or the sport bolsters, etc, that is typical in Sport seats. I know I would still have to do a little modifying to mount them to the original E24 seat frame if that is what you need to do, unless someone has a better idea and has done it before. Thanks.

Remember, you may want seats that flip forward, if you ever want access to the back seat, and sets from a 4-door generally don't have that feature.

Thanks! Didn't think about that! I think the question has been answered.
With that in mind, Is there any interest in 2 comfort seats from a 95 E34Touring in trade for a driver's sport seat for my 88 E24. My 88 has two comfort seats and I would like to install sport seats in it. I have one sport seat removed from my old 85 but only the passenger seat. I need a drivers sport seat. I have a complete E34T for parts and some E24 parts if someone would like to make a trade for anything I might have. Thanks.
