So I've been talking Eric about e23s for 12 years or so and I finally bought one!
It's a 1985 cosmosblau with pacific blue interior, the car has been headless for about 14 years now. Guess it popped the HG, the head was pulled and it sat.
Current plan is to freshen up the late model m102 and swap it in place of the headless m106. If I could find an m106 head for a decent price i'd put the money into the m106...BUT those don't seem to exist.
Working on getting the car running in the next couple of months and make the trip BACK to Texas for Texfest.
Drove from AZ to TX to pick her up. Did this all in a weekend. Left Friday AM, arrived in the DFW area that evening, woke up saturday to pick up extra parts from eric, drove west to Santo, picked up car, drank a bunch of beer with Eric, hit up the Iron skillet and after that we were on our way LOL it was a long weekend but fun. Arrived up Sunday afternoon.

Today I finally washed it and one of the pics shows the difference because of how dirty the car was.

Good to see this one will be coming back.
I miss Lone Star beer.
Not sure if the price is right, but there's an M106 head on eBay
I have some silly pictures I need to post up also!
BTW, car is oddly optioned. No factory rear speakers and the rest -

290 is TRX set up in the 220 size or for the E23, it is 7x15 225/15-r15 for that time frame.
427 is the warning triangle and the left side of the trunk storage location in the trunk lining.
everyone is still trying to figure out S915, nor boden konserviert

Got the m102 on a stand and pulled the head last night. Found out why it had a valve job 15 years ago. Looks like the chain slipped at one point and the intake valves smacked the pistons.

Interesting to see the '82 casting Ljet head (12/82 engine with 7.5:1 static) has the updated cooling ports, I ALWAYS heard otherwise and that the M102 liked to blow head gaskets easy. Bullshit on the mid gen cars from 09/81 to 05/83. Hell, it even has the same combustion chamber as the M106 cars...which blew my mind! Now if we could figure out the piston difference between the post 09/81 Ljets and pre, we would really accomplish something!
ARP and Cometic time for that M102, Kris! I also found your real Nimonik superalloy intake valves. PS, tell Darcie I said hi.
BTW I am in the green shirt with the Lone Star cases, just like Moses off Mount Sinai LOL Not a flattering pic after a few too many.

Crazy Erics E23 Euro Emporium in Texas... Love this!
Managed to get a decent haul from San antone.
And Drink a bunch of beer. Tons of driving! Got picked up Saturday at 1am, made it to SA 6pm Texas time, got straight to work and worked all the way up till 3am or so. Got packed up and hit the road right after. Made it back to AZ around 6pm so we gained 2 hours.
So far I've swapped bilstein HDs on all 4 corners. I don't plan on keeping the auto leveling so out that goes.
Changed brake lines to SS lines as well.
Put In a new diff mount so hopefully with the bilsteins and diff mount the ass end of the car won't be sagging so bad now.
Put a battery in the car and MOST of the electronics work so that's a plus
Also ditched the lol TRX wheels for some bbs rs wheels. Slowly but surely

Kris does not have the time to build the M102 and have me build the EH trans... plus shake the car down. He said he is bringing Tex and the ST again, yet has street cred now as he owns a 745i.
Mine shall be coming. Going to have my head built at Bimmerheads out of CA. Lead time is about five weeks, so looks like late September before I have it back in my hands! Talk about cutting it close, but at least I will have an all new top end.

You guys are hysterical. Eric looks just like I always pictured. Lone Star???? Sorry, I have become a beer snob, and can barely stand the taste of anything other than Paulaner Salvator, the world's first double bock beer, dating back to the 1400's I believe.
Great shots, and looks like lots of fun going around.
Eric. Wish I knew you needed a head built. I have a really nice head out of an 88 635 that works killer on the M106. Just drill for the bigger exhaust studs, and use the B35 intake.
Anyway, I haven't been around here in while, as I have only been driving the 745i sparingly. Driving it a bit more these days, and of course, have a minor issue now. Will start a new thread.
My car has really good power and is fun to drive with the 5 speed. I haven't even upgraded the engine management system yet, still running the antiquated 013 ecu, but hard to argue with the brute torque I have and 23 mpg on the highway.
Have limited the boost to 11 psi, and that probably helps longevity.
Have fun. These cars are still a lot of fun.
I saw this one up on craigslist in Socal if your still looking for one; Although it sounds like its in pretty rough shape.

Nice progress on the car!
Haven't done much to the car. Been busy and not enough shekels! Met some old dude names Joe Gisler and he sold me a bunch of parts. Cool dude.
Also I have a couple extra knock boxes if anyone is interested at all.
