2016 M3 Just went dead on freeway - Everything shutoff

I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has ever experienced with their 2016/17 BMW M3 just completely shutting down. The entire electrical system went out and the engine and electrical system died. It happened right in the middle of rush hour traffic, and as most of us know we don't normally drive on the inner lane of the freeway normally in an M. I took the car to the dealer and they are telling me that the main electric head unit went out on the car, which really has me concerned.

has anyone ever experienced this ??

Wow, that sounds terrifying. I know that the older, E9x had some serious issues with some of the Ms but haven't heard of any with the new ones. I'm assuming it's under warranty - what did the dealer say about that? Will this justify a 'lemon'?
