So I forgot to install my antenna after taking the car cover off this morning, in a rush to be a work. I lost the antenna base cover. I looked on realoem and doesn't look like I can buy just the cap. Does anyone know if this is true or can I just buy the cap? I need the cap for #2

Found a generic base cap on eBay that's suppose to fit VW, Audi n BMW
What cap? The one that sits between 1 and 2 on that diagram? I believe that will be in realoem under bodywork or maybe vehicle trim.

I searched and searched and nothing for the securing nut with the square grommet for the antenna base and a cap. Went to the dealership today and you can not buy them separately, everything comes with the new base ( part # 65218372071 ). If anyone has any recommendations please let me know...
I called the same salvage yard I got some other parts from off a M coupe and they actually had the set up I needed for 30 bucks...
Now that's a Father Day Present to myself!
where is this part found? I don't see it on my car.

The antenna base is located under your headliner and there a hole in you roof where the post sticks through with a nut and square grommet securing it. Your antenna screws into that post. Does your roof have a wrap on it?
His isn't a remote controlled M Coupe like ours.

Do you have to pull your headliner to take the antenna out and replace the cap/gasket?
2001 Z3 3.0 Coupe--Sterling Gray/Sunroof Delete/5MT
No, only if your replacing the amplifier and I think you only have to open the headliner up near the hatch to be able to disconnect the cable the goes to your radio.
Reviving this since I'd like to hear some tips on removal and installation of the rubber cap/ grommet. How is it secured to the base? Mine's starting to fall apart.
Why the rubber cap is only available with the base is beyond me
No, its not secured. It comes right off. It will fly off if you remove the antenna and then don't reinstall before driving the car at interstate speeds.
If you lose the cap, then you have to buy the whole antenna assembly to get a replacement.
I run a shorty 1" antenna just to keep it on there. I use spotify for music so I don't need an antenna.
White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.
I like Coupes.
