On the car I think you came out as good as you could have hoped, a good price and especially fairly inexpensive on the buyback, I've seen it as much as 25% of the price they give you, which changes the equation entirely.
Thanks for the kind words. She's recovering pretty good. Thank god. I agree with you I lucked out with the ins. Definitely . For now at least .

Minus the $500 deductible its goes down to $7,147.96 and they are selling me back my car for $602 . So I end up with $6545 and a few cents. I'm happy about the buy back cause the new throttle body alone that I installed just last month was 455$ and all the other expensive big parts that I had installed in My car within the last 20,000 milesAnd all the Oem M5 mods .

My car was a A/W 2000 540i with 102,000 miles when crashed. Bought it in 2013 with 70,000 miles for 9k with rep m bumpers already installed. I tried to fight for a lil more for all the expensive extras I had put on the car and also all the expensive parts I've replace. But they wouldn't budge. But all in all I'm content with this unfortunate situation. Cause I have a lot of expensive kinda new spare parts now that I can use for my other 540i and the next 540i I'm buying with a blown engine to swap my 102,000 mile engine and tranny into. Oh and they payed for my girlfriends ambulance and emergency hospital bills and hooked her up with an extra 2500$ for her pain and troubles. thanks to all that wished me well with their kind words and advice. Oh and my insurance is progressive. Thanks for reading
After reading this, if there is no frame damage, I think everything can be repaired replaced. Especially if your source good used parts.

    Update.

I said I was gonna buy a 540i with a bad engine and swap my low Milaged engine and tranny into it from my totaled alpine white 540i ,but decided to go another route with another jet black car ,but this time a 2003 540i M tech instead ,couldn't resist . I am keeping the totaled alpine white one for spare parts when needed. I always thought the 2003 mtech was overrated but now that I have one I feel a slight performance difference and just feels very solid.
4 e39s total(so far) 1 528i and 3 540s ( I think I have a addiction for e39s lol) I sure do miss my alpine white 540i though. That car was very strong and beautiful to me. And just felt perfect. But my heart will always be with my first J/B 528i ,that Inline 6 just keeps going and going! It's now at 256,000 miles . I think I will ride in e39s til the day I die lmao just can't leave the E39 . I think I need mental help with my addiction lmao. image.jpg

I feel ya Brother...it's such a great car that I own TWO!!

My first '00 540i Sport started with 95k and is now at 235k...still running strong on the original TCG's! The '03 540i M-sport started at 72k and is now at 85k...also running strong. Gotta LOVE the E39 because there is something extra special about these cars IMHO...
