Very great info i wanted to get peoples opinion on my perticular set up
Couple of months back i dynoed at 239 whp sae
My set up consist of
25lb injector
3.5 porsh maf
3.5 intake boot
3.5 dinan intake
M50 mani
Riot racing tb
Ebay us ss replicas
Ss midpipe us not euro
And rouge engineering exhaust
Since then i got the vac 286/272 cams and made 247 whp sae gain sooo did i do something wrong i feel like i could have gotten the same power from the shrick 264 cams (vac cams were set at tdc using timing blocks)
This is on a dyno jet same exact dyno i got tuned on before
If anybody has any suggestion im very open to them lol thanks

The afr according to the tuner where very good even before he even tuned it
He did a pull before even touching the car to see how it reacted and he was watching the afr
As for timing i use the oem timing blocks the vac cams dont have the dots in the back but they do allow you to use the timing blocks soo i place the cams with the lobes on cylinder one facing each other at 45 degree angle that they do in the oem cams and set the block at tdc using the timing marks on the block

Im going to say that with how qualitative those answers are your problem could very well lie in there.

I'll be the first to admit it. I haven't rebuilt anything inside an engine so I have no clue how good or bad his answer was. Therefore I'm not sure what he did right or wrong. Basically I caught the dums and need someone to spell it out for me.
Just trying learn and stuffs.
Soo im assuming my timing is the problem is there any good source to learn how to time the cam timing the block is easy using the timing marks on the block i guess maybe the head is off or does anybody know of any good shops in the ny area thanks

Jordan was the tuner, he tuned it when it had no cams and it made 239whp and he tuned it after the cams and it made 247whp.
He timed it to TDC with the cam blocks as DaInfammus1 did with the exact same cams. I think Raji timed it to TDC as well (when he had those cams in his NA setup) but I'm not 100% on that.

VAC says you should degree the cams since they are made by CAT not Schrick and the blocks may be off.
I degreed mine and went to retune it, car lost power. I put them back to basically TDC and the power returned. I had them degreed from the sheet that VAC sent with the cams also, so idk if degreeing them using those specs would help or hurt since it seems their cams are the same spec but degree differently.

VAC says you may need to vary timing to obtain the lower curve you want. Seems like a lot of effort and dyno time and tuning expense to me, but it's probably the best way.
After seeing these gains I think the best way is with deep cut valve relief pistons that won't require limiting vanos travel.
A larger exhaust would probably help as well.
SS rep headers are at 50mm (maybe a little less) as is the US SS resonator/mid pipe. That's only 2" on over 3/4 of the exhaust. Catback is the RE DMS, I believe the piping is 70mm after the flange.
