I decided to start working cosmetics on my '98 M3 so on May 13th I purchased the replica M3 bumper from ECS Tuning.
$159.95 plus $41.65 for shipping. I have the receipt, my card was charged.
2 weeks later, at 7pm on a Friday night, I receive an email that says...
" Thank you for your order, unfortunately, due to the size of the package, we will need to ship it Freight at $165.00. Thank you for shopping with ECS Tuning!"
I could not type the email fast enough to cancel the order I was so furious.
Hummm, in an email to their supposed customer service, I had 2 questions.
1) ECS has never shipped one of these before....right?
2) ECS had no idea how big it was until I purchased it...right?
In the month or so that has passed since then, I haven't heard a peep from"customer service"
Granted, at the time, the $41.65 for shipping seemed a little low but they agreed to it, I have a receipt, I have a credit card statement.
$159.00 might be fair but for me it is the principal of it.
i will never again do business with ECS Tuning as long as I live.
Oh I forgot to mention that they just sent me a survey! Priceless!
Have you tried speaking to someone over the phone besides emailing them? Sometimes it helps to actually speak to someone. Many people have purchased bumpers from them before and been more than happy with the pricing and service.
Yes, call them and talk to them. ECS has great customer service which I've experienced first hand, and should be able to sort that out for you. They shouldn't have charged you an extra $100+ without consent, and I'm sure they can fix that for you. ECS also reads these forums so will probably see this soon as well, so they may reach out to you.

I order stuff from them all the time and can confirm their customer service is pretty good.
I've had the same thing happen with them, and paid the extra money(e30 m3 parts last in the country at the time) then received the part in a standard box. I raised hell, and got refunded the crazy cost.
Ecs Rep bumper can be had for 129 shipped on eBay .

Thanks for the info, so the $42.00 that they originally told me (and charged me) was accurate. And yes, I did call them a couple of times, finally got refunded.
Still have not heard a peep, from them, would have been nice if someone had at least called or emailed if nothing else than to say "we're sorry". oh well, they lost my business for good.
