    Another one bites the dust.

Wife was stopped turning left and a kid ran into the back of her doing 60 MPH. No injuries, wife got out and walked back to the other car to check on the driver. Car totaled. 03 2.5 w/176K. Now I deal with the insurance company for the settlement. She wants another one so I may be on the hunt in the near future.

Well, I am glad she's okay. Guessing she may be a bit sore for the next couple days?
One of my greatest fears is getting this call from the lovely Mrs or one of my kids.

z4's do well in accidents. Father of a friend was in a similar situation in a different car and he died in that accident.
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.

Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.

I was impressed. The car did its job. I shudder to think if we had bought the Miata she originally wanted. My wife and I have been making that turn for over twenty years and have had some conversations about dealing with this very occurrence. I guess we made the right choices. Wheels straight so you don't end up in oncoming traffic and if you see it coming, pop it out of gear and let off the brake. I thought it would reduce the impact forces as the car would give on impact. It pushed her about a hundred feet but better than taking the full force of the impact. No injuries, no soreness and no funeral. Win, win.

That is scary. These may be solid cars, but they are very small, and a 60 mph rear end collision is bad in any size vehicle. I hope you get a chance to put some pictures up, I'd love to see how it did.

You would be surprised how well MX-5's do in crashes. They are quite stout little cars.

Z's do well in accidents in general - they were designed to be convertibles, and have extremely reinforced A-pillars. Miatas are also better than you'd expect.

Glad the wife is ok. Maybe time for a 3.0si?
