I have a 2000 BMW 323i. I redid the head gasket and every other gasket up. In the middle of doing all that all my stuff got stolen so I had to rebuild the motor piece by piece as far as parts. I finally got the car together since there's connected and vacuum hoses all straightened out from what I can tell. Now when I turn the car over it will fire up but dies almost instantly I can't figure it out it's killing me. I just need to know where to look what to test how everything's going it's getting fuel is getting spark and it has compression
Do you have a spare MAF you can swap in? If not...with the engine stone cold unplug the MAF and try starting it. If it runs then it's probably the MAF. The problem is that large vacuum leaks will display similar symptoms.

The maf in it is brand new. I went out there just now to try it but the battery is dead so will check tomorrow an update
So I went out there this morning an same thing with the maf sensor unplugged. Then out of nowhere it started up. Ran like shit but it started. I drove it down the road an back. Felt good to drive it. But it had a lack of power. I had to keep the gas pedal to the floor to as actually go. Could it be the timing? I used the tool I had to buy for the vanos set up is there any way I could have gotten it off while putting it on?
