    Hartge wheels, What kind?

I bought this set of 8,5x18" ET13 Hartge wheels during the winter, they need a restoration before I can use them.

What Hartge design is this? They are made by Ronal for Hartge.

And the center caps have the Hartge decal in the center, and the decals are plastic or something, so I guess they cant be powder coated(baked in the oven), so how will liquid car/rim paint hold up to stone chips etc?

They look like the old Type A from the 80s, but with more negative offset. Here's my E30 with Type As for comparison:

    Okai, thanks.
    Very nice E30!
So they are for old 5 or 7 series most likely then.
I plan on putting them on my E36 when the fenders are wider :b

    Hi,

Look on the back of the wheels for the technical information including a part number. You might be able to find some information on the internet to cross reference them and confirm/know exactly what style of Hartge wheels they are. Hartge as a Tuner for BMW now no longer exist as of about 18months or so ago, some other company in Germany has the ownership of the IP etc but I'm not sure they're too knowledgeable about old stock etc.

If the centre caps are plastic then no, you can't put them in the oven if you decide to powder coat the wheel as part of your refurbishment. Paint will hold up very well indeed but not as good as powder coat. If you paint the centre caps, you might want to treat them to a thin paint film protection.

    Cheers, Dennis!

Hi Dennis, only the Hartge decal in center is plastic or something, the big cap is alu too,, I might get them painted then, cause those center decals are nearly impossible to replace, unless some custom designing is done.

I will inspect the backside of the wheels.

Really, No more Hartge Company? I knew the old Hartge stock was sold some years ago, but damn..

Wow, that's a shame to hear about Hartge. I guess it's not surprising considering you never even hear the name anymore, but still sad.
