Manually Adjusting Power Seat to Tilt Back/Forth???

Hey everybody, does anyone know how to manually adjust or turn the gears on a power seat mechanism for the E23? The motor and cable are not attached to the mechanism. Please see pics below. Thanks!

Correction: its called the recliner. Here is the diagram. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=52_1667

I need to know what I can use manually to turn the gears so that it can recline the seat back and forth. I need to insert something in #9 or #10 to make the gears turn. Any ideas or is there another way of doing it?

Those hoses things going into 9 and 10 are square drive tightly wrapped drive cables. A square drive that fits the end of the gear shown under the white plastic piece (which will come off so you can investigate that gear) in your bottom picture is the way to turn this gear to make the recline gear turn.

Ok, thanks. I'm going to see if I have a square sized drill bit and attach it to my power drill. Hopefully, this will work. I'll give an update.

+1, great tip. That trick is great for many types of BMW power seat actuators. They're probably still using that same drive cable method today!
