    325ci convertible problem

I have a 2002 325ci convertible. I just purchased and top stopped working so I took to dealer who said it was a fuse problem and fixed. I drove home put the top down once and then back up worked fine today I went to show my wife how to use it and when I open it it goes down but light won't go out and I can hear the motor between the back seats clicking the top door is not closing tight. It will not go up and trunk will not open. Help please.

Under neath the rear seat in the middle is the motor gear box Assy for the boot lid. The top of the cover on the Assy is plastic. If you remove the rear seat bottom cushion and press down on the plastic cover the top may work. Since the plastic cover is supposed to hold down a gear so it can contact the other gear. But the plastic cover starts to bow up not pressing down any more to make the gears engage, the clicking noise is the gears skipping. If it works when you press down on it make a metal bracket that will go over the top of the plastic cover then use the mounting bolts of the Assy to hold the bracket in place. The new motor/gearbox Assy new still uses the plastic cover on top
