    Boost leak testing question

I'm about to start my annual maintenance and I was out cruising the other day...I noticed that my AFRs were way too high the higher boost I would try to run, so I always start with doing a boost leak test.

I have my boost tester connected to the turbo inlet pipe and have the oil cap off. The problem is, and I want to make sure I'm not missing anything, is I can't even build 5 psi of air pressure to check....I've visually checked all the couplings, even the turkey neck/connector for the intake, and everything appears fine. I think I hear air coming from under the intake, but of course, I can't feed enough air. Again, I see the connector to the intake, I see the connections from the hoses to the idle control valve, and hose from the ICV to my CES elbow....

Before I remove the intake manifold and check the actual hoses, am I doing something incorrect to build more pressure? The valve cover has a hose that vents to atmosphere....I haven't had this issue before and I would expect a major/obvious leak in this scenario, but I don't see one.

You will need a decent compressor to be able to test properly. There will be valves open and you need to keep a constant flow of air.

If you did it with the same compressor, then get a spray bottle with soapy water and pray the whole system down with as much as you can put at it. You have over the subframe hot pipe ?

When you say hot pipe, you're talking about the one from the turbo outlet to intercooler? No, it is below the subframe

Should I try rotating the engine slightly to perhaps see if there is a difference?

Yes. Sometimes with cam overlap you have a cylinder completely open. Usually I rotate the motor slightly and it works.

Where does the vac line from the FPR connect to? The intake manifold? Guess what I found flopping around the engine bay

If it's obd1 than there is a nipple on the under side of the firewall side of the intake manifold that it plugs into. If it's obd2, I'm not sure.
